About Wise Mind Financial
Wise Mind Financial LLC was formed in 2010 to address the personalized accounting and financial needs of individuals and small businesses with a focus on therapists in private practices.
While making the career transition from corporate accounting to counseling in 2007, I began working as a bookkeeper for a small business. I gained an appreciation for the sacrifice and drive it takes to be a small business owner. While I knew corporate accounting was not for me, small business bookkeeping and consulting was just right! It’s a privilege to be able to help people who are building their financial legacies.
Wise Mind Financial has evolved over the past decade, but my focus has stayed the same. I want to help you break through mindset barriers that make managing your work and financial life overwhelming so you can focus on what matters.

A bit about me…My name is Heather Lowrey and I am chatty. My report cards when I was in elementary school always described me as “social”, but they really meant I never stopped talking.
So, I’ll give you the short and sweet bio, but you can learn more below.
I’ve been a therapist for 15 years after taking a leap of faith and leaving my first career in accounting. As a rule follower, I chose a “responsible” major (Economics, Texas A&M, whoop!) so I could have a “stable and impressive” career in corporate where I could travel and have an expense account and live happily ever after.
Yeah, that’s not what happened…Turns out corporate accounting isn’t so glamorous (at least not as a new grad), and by my mid-20, I was at a crossroads…feel “safe” but bored and restless as an accountant or consider other options.
Spoiler alert… I stayed…And I read all of the books. If I was going to be miserable at work, it needed to pay off…literally.
The personal finance section of Barnes & Noble was my happy place, but as I read these books, I felt defeated. The rules were simple but also seemed utterly unattainable. However, what I did take from them was that I needed to work more. And that is where the hustle mentality took over…
After years of working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs, I finally learned that working more was not the answer. I needed to work smarter. It was counter-intuitive to work longer hours for something that drained me. Earning more money did not make up for being in a job I hated. I needed to dig deeper and really take control of my financial and work life.
